While the staff at Olathe Northwest Senior High School focused on better meeting student needs, district administrators embarked on a mission to find a solution that would enable teachers to spend more time teaching and assessing learning to meet goals.
On average, a teacher at Olathe High School gets to spend just one hour a day with each student which isn't enough time to assess each individual's needs and progress. The school district needed better technology to help improve the time spent with students.
The district found System i, with DB2, from IBM and software, called Personal Teaching, from Timpanagos Technologies.
The new technology now allows teachers time to assess students' needs and understanding of concepts quickly and easily. The teacher can not only make assignments or issue tests, but also send reminder notes based on a student's previous test resuilts or needs.
