How does a Service Oriented Architecture give businesses an advantage?

Integration Affords Economy

Bart Carlson
President/CEO
Napersoft

Our customers tell us that using an SOA solution has benefited them by being able to streamline business processes, improve customer service and reduce IT maintenance costs.  These were a result of being able to reduce the time it took to integrate WebDemand360 with their LOB applications, reuse the same solution with multiple LOB applications on a wide variety of platforms, and improve their business agility in a continuously changing and competitive world.

In addition, SOA has enabled us as an ISV to deliver a more elegant, flexible and simplified solution.  Why?  Because developing an SOA solution enabled us to integrate the industrial strength infrastructure offerings of IBM such as WebSphere and DB2 with the ubiquitous editing tools of Microsoft Word for content creation and management.

So how does it work?  When the document content administrator needs to create a new document template or paragraphs, they simply do it in Word.  Upon completion of their editing, they simply check the template or paragraph content into WebDemand360 which stores the templates or paragraphs in DB2.  This eliminates the need for IT to use highly skilled and paid programmers to maintain the 1,000s of document templates and paragraphs used in a typical medium to large business.

In summary, the benefits of SOA transcend across customers, suppliers, partners and employees.  Yes, everyone wins!  What more could you ask for?
